Summer & Sensibility

White, it’s cool and let’s face it: it’s sensible in summer. There’s a host of romantic dresses this season to make you feel like you’ve walked straight out of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, without feeling too fussy. I like to think of them as minimal meets romantic and Jane Austen’s protagonists often have that no-nonense approach to their love lives yet will invite just enough nonsense in the spirit of romance. This is despite being sometimes slightly perturbed by one’s suitor, and sometimes, a little hot under the collar. But we’re talking about dresses here. Head out of the clouds and back to your closet! Reformation, Doen, and Christy Dawn are all brands I turn to for this minimalist, yet definitely pretty, sometimes ruffly aesthetic.
