Peak Summer (into Fall) Dressing
It’s crazy how quickly it can go from peak summer to fall these days. Like how suddenly it’s PSE-season (that’s Pumpkin Spice Everything), all at once! The same goes for fashion. Suddenly, sweaters are everywhere, in all the stores. Not helpful in L.A., weather gods. (We’re currently amid a record heat wave.) Meanwhile, on the fashion front, Labor Day sales are in full swing, making this the perfect time, to find the perfect styles to make the transition from summer to fall dressing, fashionable and easy. And I’m here with the outfit formulas to help!
Labor Day has long been the marker of Fashion’s turn to fall dressing after all. We all know the rule –come on, recite it with me now, “No more white after Labor Day.” So, I am showing you two ways to wear the micro-trend of the moment: the mini denim dress, while using accessories from both summer and fall, that you may already have in your closet. I love this dress from Sézane because I can wear it to get ice cream, like I did one summer day in Pasadena, and then easily wear it on a fall stroll.
The denim dress is definitely trending this season, so you’ll find plenty like the one I’m wearing. As far as accessorizing, you can wear pops of bright summery colors that will also be around for fall’s dopamine dressing trend. I chose off-white kitten heels and wrapped a scarf around my bag handle (wardrobe hack!) for the Fourth of July this year and liked how the red white and blue colors coordinated with this ice cream shop! Choose camels, tans, and browns to accessorize for fall and you’ve got your Pumpkin Spice vibes coordinating with the season, right down to your latte. Add knee-high boots and an oversized tote, when cooler temps roll in, and boom, you’re covered for all four seasons with this dress! I would also recommend pairing some mid-calf boots over ankle boots, ones that won’t cut you off at the ankle, for a mod look. (Mod is yet another trend dominating for fall.) I hope you find my Peak Summer to Fall Dressing edit sparks some inspiration for many fashionable days ahead.
