3 Spring Leather Jacket Trends
Having lived in both New York and L.A. one style that is a strong staple in my wardrobe on both coasts has to be the leather jacket. Spring, summer, winter, fall, I always have to have some version of a leather jacket in rotation. Whatever vibe a particular leather style may carry: edgy, cool, polished, classic, it’s always there to amp up any look. Throw one on and a leather jacket can instantly take any look and give it street style credibility.

Now that it’s spring and our minds easily wander to the lightest layers you might not think to put emphasis on what is more traditionally a heavy layer. But there’s where spring leather comes in, in lighter weights, pastel and neutral colors, cropped and vinyl styles all are refreshing alternatives to black leather. I found this cropped Reformation jacket while traveling from NYC to L.A., while perusing the racks at my favorite store on on Melrose Avenue and just had to have it. And an abbreviated version just fit in my already growing suitcase. Now I wear it summer to winter, shown here, with a Reformation wrap skirt, and the Stuart Weitzman Highland Bootie. In spring I would wear the same skirt with a simple black sandal or ankle bootie.

This pastel pink Rabecca Taylor jacket is also a classic I keep returning to again and again. I actually purchased this jacket three years ago, again while in L.A., and its seems to be a mainstay of the designer's collection as its still available this season. It looks so pretty with dresses and white or lighter denim. Cupcakes and Cashmere, BB Dakota and Lauren Conrad all offer affordable versions in pastel colors.
SHOP VEGAN & VINYL LEATHER JACKETS
The newest, edgier addition to my wardrobe, is the Rebecca Taylor vinyl jacket. It’s high shine makes it fancy enough for dinner and looks amazing with your brightest, boldest lipstick. A bolder choice and fashion-forward is just as great for drinks with the girls, demure for dinner and also cool with a more casual pair of jeans. The ones I’m wearing here are by Girlfriend Denim with the double-pocket detail on back. And my favorite patent leather heels by Dior. If you looking for that spring weight vegan leather is also another option. I’ve owned styles by Free People that look like the real thing. These 3 styles are classic pieces I return to again and again. Trust me, when it comes to style the perfect leather jacket goes a long way.
